Recipe: Iced Mint Tea, a refreshing drink

For many of us, summer means beaches, tanning, and lazy moments with friends. Except that unless you're in an air-conditioned environment, the temperature sometimes spoils these good times.

To beat the heat, a few delightfully simple tricks can be put in place. And frankly, between plain water and a refreshing iced mint tea, the choice is quickly made.
Today, we're talking about this star summer drink and the best way to make it!

Mint tea: a millennial drink

Mint is good, it's light and fresh. And we are not the first to discover it. For millennia, this plant has been used in infusions for its benefits on the body and its refreshing effect.

Imported from the Maghreb, the tradition of infused mint has made its way to us. For centuries, Touaregs have been drinking mint tea to enjoy all the virtues of this green leaf.

Indeed, iced mint tea is rich in benefits. Most often combined with iced green tea, you can enjoy all the antioxidants this plant contains, which help fight oxidative stress.
Mint, on the other hand, allows for better digestion, which makes iced mint tea very suitable after meals. Sometimes combined with lemon, the iced mint tea recipe varies and adjusts to everyone's tastes.
Our choice of local and organic products guarantees a healthy tea, free of chemicals.

Why choose iced mint tea?

Still hesitating to take the plunge? Here are even more reasons to embrace iced mint tea!

A refreshing property

Mint tea has the advantage of being one of the most refreshing teas there is. The natural freshness effect that mint provides is particularly popular during the hot season. When the temperature rises in summer, this property is highly appreciated.

An inexpensive drink

Favor tea over other commercial drinks that are often more caloric and much more expensive.

Choose to make it yourself to ensure the origin of the products and enjoy iced tea at a lower cost. Indeed, 180g of tea makes no less than 15 liters of drinks. On average, the cost of a liter of homemade tea is 3 times lower than that of a liter of store-bought tea. Not to mention that tea leaves keep longer and more easily.

The iced mint tea recipe

Here's how to make the best iced mint tea, simply and quickly.

For this recipe, we chose to use our sachet containing a blend of Gunpowder green tea and peppermint leaves for a dose of freshness mixed with all the benefits of mint. Low in theine, it is ideal for drinking throughout the day, starting from the morning.

Of course, you can opt for other tea bags according to your tastes.

Ingredients

  • For this recipe, you will need:
  • 1 liter of water
  • 10g of tea leaves
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • 20g of sugar (optional)

Preparation

Start by heating your water as usual, to a temperature of 75°C.

Once this temperature is reached, turn off the heat, immerse the tea leaves, and let infuse for 3 minutes.

The water should not be too hot so as not to alter the taste of the tea. Likewise, too long an infusion risks making the tea too bitter.
If you like to drink sweetened iced mint tea, you can add up to 20g of sugar to the recipe, according to your preferences.

Let the preparation cool in the fridge for at least 3 hours. When serving, add a few fresh mint leaves and ice cubes.
All that's left is to pour and enjoy!

A variety of flavors

Here, we have presented the classic iced mint tea, consisting exclusively of green tea and mint leaves. But you can also opt for other versions like our Organic Herbo - Peppermint, which you will mix with the tea of your choice, such as our Organic Green Tea - Gunpowder or Organic Black Tea - Darjeeling.
